Bon Ton & Temple Tree
Totally unique properties on Langkawi's west coast, Bon Ton and Temple Tree must be seen to be believed.
Heading North up Pantai Chenang from Chenang Beach on the island’s west coast sit magical Bon Ton and Temple Tree resorts. The former is literally a series of antique stilted fisherman’s homes, reconstructed on the property and beautifully decorated by one of the owners. Temple Tree, right next door, is a series of charming and lovingly-restored houses from across Malaysia, Singapore and China, that have been taken down in their original location and rebuilt. ‘Black and White’ house, for example, has an entire wall of multi-coloured glass, while ‘Penang’ house is a delightful, green-hued space with lapping wooden ceiling fans and a view of the pool; no two spaces are alike.
For You -
Nam restaurant has a Laksa (Malay soup,) the likes of which you’ll never find again; it makes eating there everyday worthwhile. Staff are happy to babysit at very short notice so you can always head out spontaneously or, if you prefer to stay on site, cocktails and tapas on the sunset deck are a must.
For Them +
The delightful owners also have an animal sanctuary adjacent to the property, which results in lots of cats roaming around the property. Children (and many adults) adore them and they are extremely friendly. There are children’s films for rent, as well as games and pool toys. Nam restaurant also has a children’s menu that offers delightful dishes like chicken satay or homemade lightly-fried local fish; certain houses have two bedrooms so work perfectly for families.
