A hip an contemporary Penang hangout, Lone Pine is located smack on Batu Ferringhi beach.
Outside of Georgetown and located on Batu Ferringhi beach sits the newly opened Lone Pine Hotel. Of 1960s design, it has been recently renovated and reopened with its slick pool, tangy interiors and solitary hammocks dotted between pine trees along the beach. There is a fantastic Japanese restaurant above the bar and, for those making a stay of it in Penang, the suites alongside the sea are homes from home.

Citrus-coloured interiors contrast beautifully with the blue seascape and thick greenery (hence the name), making this a stunning location in which to unwind. The pool is a wonderful spot to relax, as the pine trees provide a bit of natural shade for those not wanting full-on rays all day. The food is fantastic and the service impeccable so you literally want for nothing. The hammocks that hang from the ginormous pine trees are hard to leave one you nestle in. If you’re travelling with babies, you can arrive light – there are bottle sterilizers available, babysitting services, high chairs and cots available

Aside from staying literally on the beachfront and having either saltwater or the lovely pool to frolic in all day, the restaurants are kiddie heaven.
