Grand Hotel Tremezzo
A decadent and very luxurious Art Nouveau hotel located on the shores of Lake Como
Grand Hotel Tremezzo, is one of the oldest hotels on Lake Como and nestled right on the shore, this Art Nouveau beauty offers unrivalled views of Bellagio and the Grigne mountains. Recently reopened, it is as beautiful and grandiose as ever. Walking from drawing room to tea parlour, spacious bathroom to bedroom, the feeling is very much Greta Garbo-by-sea (she makes reference to this hotel in her 1932 film “Grand hotel”) but that shouldn’t put you off bringing the children. Despite the cascading luxury and decadence, the thought put into families is immense. Vast, peaceful and very much in their own Tremazzo oasis, the hotel’s two largest family rooms are made up of two apartments with two bedrooms each and a double bathroom so there is more than enough room for everyone, no matter what the size of your brood. These family rooms are located on the upper floor of Villa Emilia, which is adjacent, though directly connected, to the hotel; the Villa Emilia’s ground floor hosts the T Kids recreation area and TV room. And boasts three pools and a tennis court. In the main “palace” part of the hotel, there are 8 deluxe rooms and 2 sumptuous suites, all recommended for families with their rooftop suites offering the option of being interconnected should you wish.
For You -
Most of the historical villas on Lake Como have a private park and Tremazzo’s 20,000 square meter park is no exception. The jogging trail and clay tennis courts are perfect for active parents, while those looking for a special date night or anniversary celebration can enjoy either a poolside supper or a romantic evening on the private terrace of the Great Suite with breathtaking lake views. The T Bar is the perfect place for cocktails if you’re after something a bit more spontaneous. Of course, requisite babysitters can easily be arranged by the hotel to make all of the above possible.
For Them +
Aside from the activities arranged for children there also exists the T Kids program. Located in Villa Emilia, the children’s room is loaded with wooden toys, books and a large choice of DVDs (to be viewed in the TV room or in your own room) as well as age-appropriate satellite channels. Buckets and spades are available for toddlers to use on the lakeside beach. Nightlights are available in the rooms for those afraid of the dark and all Grand Hotel Tremezzo restaurants offer a Baby Menu.
