The luxurious ‘Grande Dame of Sherbrooke Street,’ The Ritz Carlton is steeped in local history.
Anyone travelling with kids knows a chosen hotel can make or break a trip, but you’ll never go wrong with a Ritz Carlton. Gloriously restored, the tubs in this Ritz Carlton Montreal are big enough to swim in, baby cribs come perfectly made with pretty linens and the staff treat tots (and grown-ups) like long lost relatives. This is arguably one of the best seats in town and houses the Maison Boulud restaurant with its views onto the hotel’s secluded winter garden. Here you can brunch on ricotta blintzes and freshly baked viennoiserie while ducks frolic in the nearby pond. There is no children’s menu, but meals can be created especially for younger guests and there are plenty of high chairs.
For You -
The kids won’t notice but grown-ups will love the luxurious little touches like hot towels at check-in, fog-free bathroom mirrors and the 300 bottles of French vintages in the restaurant’s wine cellar. Walk one block west to stock up on Marni and Alexander Wang at Holt Renfrew department store, a de rigueur shopping destination for well-heeled locals.
For Them +
Tots are gifted with Ritz rubber duckies and the salt-water pool is the perfect antidote to end-of-day tantrums. It may not have a slide but it’s warm (heated with reclaimed energy from the hotel’s kitchen) and the city skyline view is marvellous.
