The Hotel Arts is a spoiling treat but highly recommended. The giant Frank Gehry fish sculpture on the beachfront of this Barcelona favourite has marked its prominence for years. The Sergi Arola restaurant is Michelin-Starred and well worth a visit, even if you don’t book a hotel room and stay the night. Overly generous bunches of flowers flood each and every corridor so the delightful smell of this hotel lingers. And the spa? Well, it features on Best Spa lists the world over with good reason.

Aside from the bunches of hydrangeas literally everywhere and that aforementioned Six Senses spa, the restaurants of this hotel make it hard to leave (though we highly recommend exploring the rest of this city from a culinary perspective). The rooms are a pinnacle of luxury with enormous bathrooms, high tech entertainment systems and views of the sea.

The hotel’s restaurant Bites always has a featured children’s item and the menu doubles as a drawing book. The reception desk has a fun “hotel questionnaire” for children that they have to complete (asking a waiter for an autograph, for example, is one such task) and, once filled out, they get a free ice cream. All family rooms are adorned with coloured balloons and sweets on arrival to welcome children with aplomb.
