Enviable interiors, cosy fireplaces, locally sourced cuisine and friendly staff define the stunning Pig Country House Hotel near Bath and Bristol.

The latest and greatest offering from the clever folk behind The Pig Hotels already open in Brockenhurst and Southampton, this gorgeous country house hotel emerges from amongst a deer park and rolling Somerset hills most memorably. Stunning interiors welcome you with open arms as you walk into the lobby through a Hunter boot room smattered in wellington boots of every colour and size. The food will please palettes of any age and the hotel operates a garden-to-table type of menu that promises all food is either grown or sourced from within a small 25 mile radius. The dining area is so gorgeous you’ll find yourself oohing and aahing over every carefully curated detail from the bulging herb pots that line each windowsill to the random ceramic tiles that peak flirtatiously from amongst the wooden flooring, the little pots of salt and pepper to the stunning views across the surrounding fields. The very relaxed ambience and luxurious, yet understated air that lingers throughout this 29 room hotel makes it unpretentious, inviting and very family-friendly.

For You -

Aside from the achingly cosy interiors, ginormous beds and sweeping bathrooms that bring new heights of country house hotel comfort, you can enjoy treatments in the Potting Shed (there isn’t a spa but this lovely, original garden shed is now a welcoming nook for a lovely massage). The bar area (which is totally family-friendly) is in what would have been a living room of this stunning country house and has the same, homey feeling. The extensive menu offers wonderfully local, seasonal and always fresh food that, when possible, is grown on the grounds of the hotel itself. The wine list is excellent and reassuringly lengthy.

For Them +

Truffle the pig is the friendly resident pig and there are quails that lay eggs daily next to the chicken coup and the deer park, all of which are magnets for little guests, unsurprisingly. The hotel garden is enormous and makes a wonderful area for exploration while learning about food and natural produce. There is a lovely, if little, selection of DVDs that include some popular children’s titles if curling up under the covers and watching a good flick before bed appeals. The menu for Piglets offers wonderful and healthy choices, or if they want something off the adult menu but can’t stomach such a large amount of food, anything can be ordered as a half portion.
