Mount Nelson Hotel
Mount Nelson is the country’s oldest hotel (it dates back to 1899) Today, it is a genteel, salmon-pink Grand Dame situated in the heart of Capetown.
Protected from the city’s urban hubbub by sprawling Hydrangeas and century-old trees, the old-world charm coupled with discreet modern day service and facilities of The Mount Nelson makes it a true delight for families. There are 201 rooms situated in the original hotel building, as well as various wings dotted on the property. For a true ‘Eloise’ moment, opt for a room in the original hotel building, or for more privacy choose a garden room. Please note that the maximum number of extra beds in any room at the hotel is currently one, but there are a number of family suites, some with kitchenettes.
For You -
Planet Bar is a local institution for afternoon drinks – enjoy G&T’s on the terrace while the kids play hide and seek in the gardens. The Librisa Spa is an elegant adjacent escape dressed in blush tones, which offers outstanding spa and beauty treatments such as the Africology facial.
For Them +
A heated pool of enormous old-school proportions is a year round magnet for water babies. The hotel’s Afternoon Tea is regarded as amongst the best in the world; the perfectly polished Windsor table, laden with sweet and savoury treats, is nothing short of spectacular.
